scarpemani shoes
PROJECT
Shoes for men; a light leather shaft in the shape of a hand (italian scarpe = shoes, mani = hands). When combined with black pants and a black turtleneck sweater gives the impression that the user is moving on 'all fours' - four hands.
STRATEGY
The first pair took nearly three months to be created by a shoemaker in Turin. A thick, multi-layer sole, an individually molded wooden hoof with a crest raised a la Chaplin, lacquered goat leather with a non-impregnated pattern, white twine, white cotton laces - shoes impossible to clean outside of a professional cobbler. A unique measure of fourteen different user sizes. The first pair, well used, is no longer alive, the second pair, made in Poland, does not meet the parameters of the original.
